Shipwrecked is a British reality show that appeals to the 18-24 year-old demographic. It was originally a social experiment series, but it evolved to become a competition.
The contestants were stranded in the Cook Islands for 68 days during the first season. It had a rather informal and spontaneous format. The second series, however, was more structured. The panel of judges required contestants to participate in an audition process that was similar to a boot camp! The competitors were sent to Fiji for the third series. The cast became more international, and members included people from Australia and the United States. Andrew Lincoln narrated the first three series.
Series four was known as Shipwrecked: Battle of the Islands 2006. It was completely different from the original version of the show. The format was very similar the the American show Survivor. A new contestant arrived every week. Actor Craig Kelly was the narrator. The subsequent series varied in format, and the prize money amount changed. The 8th series was filmed in 2011. The Director decided to go back to basics, so there was no Battle of the Islands theme.
Shipwrecked is an interesting British reality show that is fun to watch.
