What I am brilliant at

Art and photography. Art was the only subject I got straight "A"'s in while in school and college. After graduating high school, I taught myself how to sketch faces from photographs, and would sketch on my lunch breaks at work. Soon, ppl were bringing me photographs to sketch for them. They actually paid me, but I never considered myself an artist until I started selling my paintings. I took watercolour in college, in the Spring of 2000 & I have been teaching watercolor to beginners since Sept. 2000. I've since taken 2 more semesters of watercolor. (I love being a student too!) Several of my students are now doing advanced work. I also do "landscape" commissions from photo's in oil or watercolour. I just finished an oil painting commission and will be starting another commission soon.

My Hobbie & Interests:

Painting, pottery, photography, writing, cooking, reading, genealogy, Deep sea fishing, gardening, boating, camping at the beach, travel. I also have 14 adult peachfaced lovebirds in a large outdoor aviary. I started out with 4, then they multiplied! I can't keep them all, so I learned how to handfeed the babies. They don't look very cute for the first few weeks.

Classes I recently took:

I took 4 oil painting lessons in 2007. I finished my first oil painting in May, of a seascape. (Pic in my photo's) and I painted a mountain scene with lots of trees. I used a palette knife for the whole painting, so it took weeks for the oil paint to dry! I also took a 6 week writing course online in May/June! It was so much fun!!!!

Scared of

Drunk drivers!! I was hit by a drunk driver several years ago. I was a passenger in a friends truck. I was hurt pretty bad too! I'm also scared of heights, dying in a fire or drowning. I'm NOT scared of spiders or snakes... I had to handle them when I worked at a pet store in 2004. We had the big hairy spiders, lol. I even had to feed baby mice to the snakes. That was a bit gross, but if you think of it as their food, you get used to it.

Happiest when

I'm w/ friends, painting or writing, on my laptop or walking along the beach barefoot. I love the sound of the ocean! I want my own cottage on the beach someday... so I can paint or write at the beach anytime I want.

Favourite music

Soft rock, pop and 80's classics... but I also like most of the current music. I'm not fond of the older country songs, RAP or heavy metal. It doesn't calm me one bit.
